The Pink Project: Youth for Breast Cancer is an international Erasmus+ project implemented under the KA153 Mobility of Youth Workers action with the project reference number 2025-1-ES02-KA153-YOU-000298103. Coordinated by Asociación VANA, the project took place in Madrid, Spain, from 15 to 21 October 2025. During the programme, participants took part in practical workshops focused on creating breast cancer awareness materials using the Canva platform. Working in small international groups, youth workers designed posters, social media visuals, and informative content aimed at promoting breast health awareness. These activities enabled participants to develop their digital competences while learning how to communicate important health messages effectively to different target groups. Presenting and discussing the created materials also encouraged creativity, teamwork, and the exchange of ideas.
One of the most impactful parts of the programme was a session featuring a guest who had experienced breast cancer firsthand. By listening to a real-life story, participants gained a deeper understanding of the physical, emotional, and social challenges associated with the disease. The interactive question-and-answer session allowed youth workers to engage directly with the speaker, increasing their awareness and empathy. This was followed by the “Symbols of Hope” activity, during which participants created supportive messages and expressions of solidarity for individuals affected by breast cancer, encouraging personal reflection and emotional engagement with the topic.
The programme also included community outreach activities where youth workers worked in small groups and interacted directly with local residents to promote breast cancer awareness. Through these practical experiences, participants strengthened their communication, community engagement, and awareness-raising skills while gaining valuable experience in delivering health-related messages in real-life settings. The activities also fostered cooperation among participants from different countries, creating opportunities for intercultural learning and the exchange of good practices in health education.
As a result of these activities, participants enhanced their knowledge of breast cancer while developing important competences in digital communication, awareness campaign design, public engagement, and active citizenship. By combining health education, non-formal learning, and international cooperation, The Pink Project: Youth for Breast Cancer continues to contribute to the development of more informed, supportive, and socially responsible communities across Europe.
