The “Mental Health Literacy in Youth Work” project (Project Number: 2025-3-ES02-KA153-YOU-000367834), coordinated by Asociación VANA, is being implemented in Madrid, Spain, from 4 to 10 April 2026 under the KA153 – Mobility of Youth Workers action of the Erasmus+ Programme. The project aims to strengthen mental health literacy in youth work, promote methods that support young people's well-being, and enhance international cooperation among youth organizations.

The opening activities focused on helping participants get to know each other, build trust, and establish a collaborative learning environment. Through interactive group exercises and intercultural exchange activities, participants shared their experiences, explored different approaches to youth work, and gained a deeper understanding of the realities faced by young people across Europe. These sessions laid a strong foundation for effective cooperation throughout the project.

Training sessions introduced the concept of mental health literacy and explored common challenges affecting young people, including stress, anxiety, burnout, and depression. Participants discussed the early signs of mental health difficulties, examined common misconceptions, and developed a better understanding of how youth workers can provide appropriate support and guidance. Practical exercises and case studies helped transform theoretical knowledge into applicable skills.

The programme also focused on creating safe, inclusive, and supportive environments for young people. Participants exchanged good practices from their respective countries and worked together on strategies that encourage emotional well-being, active participation, and a sense of belonging. These discussions highlighted the important role youth workers play in fostering positive mental health within their communities.

Through international learning and cooperation, the Mental Health Literacy in Youth Work project contributes to the professional development of youth workers while promoting more inclusive and sustainable youth work practices across Europe. The knowledge, methods, and experiences gained during the project are expected to strengthen participating organizations and benefit young people long after the mobility has ended.
