The Pink Project: Youth for Breast Cancer is being implemented under the Erasmus+ Programme within the framework of the KA153 Mobility of Youth Workers action, with the project reference number 2025-1-ES02-KA153-YOU-000298103. Coordinated by Asociación VANA, the project takes place in Madrid, Spain, from 15 to 21 October 2025, bringing together youth workers from Greece, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Türkiye to exchange knowledge and experiences in the fields of breast cancer awareness and health literacy.
The activities carried out during the project were designed to equip youth workers with comprehensive knowledge about breast cancer and enable them to transfer this knowledge to their local communities. During the educational sessions, participants explored topics such as the definition of breast cancer, its symptoms, risk factors, and its impact on society. Through interactive presentations and non-formal learning methods, participants gained not only theoretical knowledge but also a broader understanding of the social dimensions of the disease. Small-group discussions encouraged the exchange of experiences and perspectives among participants from different countries, while presentations of group findings helped strengthen communication and public speaking skills.
A significant part of the programme focused on the importance of early detection. Participants learned about preventive health practices, the value of regular medical check-ups, and the role of early diagnosis in improving treatment outcomes. Through collaborative discussions, youth workers exchanged ideas on how to communicate these important messages effectively to young people and local communities. Interactive learning activities and knowledge-based quizzes further reinforced the information acquired during the sessions and encouraged active participation throughout the learning process.
One of the most impactful activities of the programme was a film screening portraying the journey of a woman living with breast cancer. This activity enabled participants to explore not only the medical aspects of the disease but also its emotional, psychological, and social consequences. The reflection session held after the screening provided a safe space for participants to share their thoughts and emotions, fostering empathy and a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by individuals affected by breast cancer.
As a result of these activities, participants enhanced their knowledge of breast cancer while developing skills related to health awareness campaigns, community education, communication, and public engagement. They also gained practical tools and approaches that can be applied in future youth work initiatives. By combining health education with non-formal learning and international cooperation, The Pink Project: Youth for Breast Cancer continues to contribute to the creation of more informed, supportive, and health-conscious communities across Europe.
